Plot
Based on the classic sci-fi novel by H.G. Wells, "The Time Machine" stars Guy Pearce in the role of scientist and inventor, Alexander Hartdegen, who is determined to prove that time travel is possible. His determination is turned to desperation by a personal tragedy that now drives him to want to change the past. Testing his theories with a time machine of his own invention, Hartdegen is hurtled 800,000 years into the future, where he discovers that mankind has divided into the hunter - and the hunted.

Summary
After Professor Alexander Hartdegen's (Guy Pearce) new fiance is murdered, he devotes all his time in designing and building a time
machine. He travels back to the deadly night, and manages to save
her from the gunshot that took her life, however he soon discovers
that he cannot change the past. He then travels 800,000 years into
the future to try and find out why he can't change the past.
It is there that he discovers mankind has evolved into two races, the
wondrous and pleasant Eloi, and the murderous and hungry
Morlocks. If he can't change the past, can he change the future? What
if???
A very good adaptation of H.G. Wells book. The effects are certainly
grand, and the additions to bring it up to date (from the '60's to the
'90's at least) are very well done.
